Beyond the builds

Wingfoiling

Up on the foil under a blue sky, one hand off the wing in a shaka, two riders far behind.
Foiling along the shore below a packed hospitality stand at the Oracle San Francisco Sail Grand Prix.
Up on the foil in bib 78 under a grey sky, Alcatraz behind him.
Foiling past the USA SailGP boat in bib 9, its crew hiked out on the rail above him.

I wingfoil on San Francisco Bay, which is kind of like kitesurfing with a handheld wing, in some of the strongest wind and current anywhere (plus the occasional container ship).

I started my freshman year of high school and pretty quickly got into racing. In wingfoil racing, competitors navigate a set course, using technical skill, strategy, quick decision making, and speed to win races. Some of the results are below.
